Emotional Tone Mapping

Affective computing · Sentiment analysis

Every message carries an emotional register. The aggregate of those registers, per person, over time, reveals the emotional texture of the relationship.

We look at which emotions dominate: warmth, anxiety, irritation, humor, tenderness, defensiveness. We look at who carries which emotion, and how emotions move between people. Does one person's anxiety trigger the other's warmth? Does irritation produce humor or withdrawal?

What we measure

Dominant emotion per person

The emotion that appears most consistently in one person's messages.

Emotional asymmetry

When one person's emotional range is significantly wider than the other's.

Deflection patterns

When one person converts emotional content into humor or logistics to avoid engaging directly.

Emotional contagion

When one person's emotional state visibly shifts after the other's messages.
